After a decade of serving patients in various clinical settings as part of her work as a psychologist, Dr. Hickman became more intrigued with the idea of what she termed "mental fitness." Meaning, rather than focusing on mental disorders, she wanted to focus on teaching mental fitness skills. Being mentally fit is all about having the skills you need to meet every challenge life throws at you, whether this is for work, relationships, social activities, or in your creative ventures. Young or old...we all need mental fitness training! Since 2014, Dr. Hickman has dedicated her efforts to promoting mental fitness skills through classes, programs, podcasts, and written work as part of the non-profit Mental Fitness Education (MFitEDU) and Mental Fitness Institute.
